Texas Cheerleaders Shot in HEB Parking Lot, One in ICU, One Recovering for World Championship

A Texas high school cheerleader, Payton Washington, is recovering in the hospital after being shot in an H-E-B parking lot before her last All-Star Cheerleading World Championships. One of her teammates mistakenly tried to get in the wrong car, and Pedro Tello Rodriguez Jr., 25, fired multiple shots at the girls. Rodriguez was arrested and charged with deadly conduct. Payton was airlifted to a local hospital and is in the ICU, but family and friends have no doubt she’ll recover. A GoFundMe has been set up to help with the medical costs for Payton.
