Texas Militia Member Sentenced to 5 Years for Assaulting Police Officer on Jan. 6

Donald Hazard, a member of a Texas militia called the Patriot Boys of North Texas, has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for assaulting police officers during the Jan. 6 Capitol Riot. Hazard, who was wearing a tactical vest and a helmet adorned with the image of the Confederate battle flag, grabbed a Capitol police officer and pulled him down a set of concrete steps, knocking him unconscious. He also fell on another Capitol police officer whose head hit the concrete. Over 1,000 people have been charged with federal crimes related to the riot.
