Texas Police Officer Fatally Shot in Pursuit of Suspects Along Southern Border

A San Benito, Texas, police officer, Lt. Milton Resendez, was fatally shot during a pursuit of two men along the southern border. The suspects, one from Mexico, fled during a traffic stop, swapped vehicles, and led police on a chase through several cities. Resendez was struck in the abdomen by a bullet that went through the door of his patrol car and later died at a nearby hospital. The two suspects, Rogelio Martinez Jr. and Rodrigo Axel Espinosa Valdez, were arrested and face multiple charges. The investigation is ongoing.
