Tragic Death of UC Berkeley Grad Student in Mexico

Gabriel Trujillo, a 31-year-old Ph.D. student at UC Berkeley, was found dead in Mexico after being shot seven times. Trujillo, a passionate ecologist and field biologist, was conducting research on a flowering shrub called the common buttonbush. His body was discovered in the state of Sonora, a region plagued by violence and controlled by drug cartels. Trujillo's family is seeking answers from both the U.S. and Mexican governments, while authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
