Utah Author of Children's Grief Book Charged with Husband's Murder

Kouri Richins, a Utah author of a children's book on grief, has been charged with murdering her husband, Eric Richins, by allegedly poisoning him with a lethal dose of fentanyl. Eric had told friends and family before his death that he believed his wife was trying to poison him. Kouri was arrested on counts of murder and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute it. The couple had argued over purchasing a $2m home that Kouri wanted to remodel but Eric thought was too expensive. Kouri unsuccessfully tried to remove Eric's business partner from his life insurance policy and make herself the beneficiary. Kouri ended up closing on the home a day after Eric's death and threw a large party at her home where she was drinking and celebrating.
