Violent Crimes Leave Trail of Death and Injuries in Jefferson County

A woman was stabbed to death in Jefferson County and four people shot in Birmingham Sunday night in incidents believed to be connected. The suspect, 50-year-old Cortrell Burks, is still at large and a search is underway. The stabbing is believed to be domestic-related, and the suspect is thought to have fired multiple shots into a home belonging to the homicide victim's mother. The injuries sustained by the four people shot in Birmingham are not believed to be life-threatening.
