Virginia First Grader's Mother Tests Positive for Drugs, Prosecutors Seek Bond Revocation

Prosecutors have requested the revocation of bond for Deja Taylor, the mother of a Virginia first-grader who shot and injured his teacher, after she allegedly failed multiple drug tests while awaiting sentencing on felony charges. Taylor had pleaded guilty to possessing a gun while having marijuana and lying on a background check form. Prosecutors stated that she tested positive for marijuana and cocaine, missed drug screenings and treatment sessions, raising concerns about her danger to the community and compliance with court orders. Taylor's lawyers will argue against bond revocation. Sentencing is scheduled for October 18. The teacher is suing the school system for $40 million, alleging negligence and ignoring warnings about the boy having a gun at school.
