"Virginia Sheriff and Businessmen Indicted for Bribery and Fraud in Badge Scandal"

Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Howard Jenkins in Virginia has been indicted on charges of federal programs bribery, honest services mail and wire fraud, and conspiracy after allegedly accepting $72,500 in cash bribes in exchange for giving out deputy badges. Three other men, including Rick Tariq Rahim, Fredric Gumbinner, and James Metcalf, are also facing charges related to wire fraud and conspiracy. The badges were allegedly promised to allow the recipients to carry concealed weapons without a permit in all 50 states. Jenkins is accused of falsely helping Rahim restore his right to carry a firearm by stating he resided in Culpeper County when he actually lived in Fairfax County.
