Virginia Sheriff and Businessmen Indicted for Bribery Charges

Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Howard Jenkins and three other Virginia men have been indicted on federal charges of conspiracy to exchange bribes for law enforcement badges and credentials, federal programs bribery, and honest services fraud. Jenkins allegedly accepted cash bribes and campaign contributions totaling at least $72,500 in exchange for appointing the bribe payors as auxiliary deputy sheriffs and issuing them law enforcement credentials. The defendants face potential prison sentences of up to 5 to 20 years if convicted.
