President Biden's latest student loan forgiveness plan will forgive $47 million of student debt for over 6,000 eligible Michiganders enrolled in the income-driven repayment plan known as the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan. The plan targets borrowers who have made at least 10 years of payments after taking out federal loans of $12,000 or less for college, with those having balances over $12,000 also potentially eligible. Borrowers enrolled under the SAVE Plan will have their debt forgiven after 20 or 25 years, and eligible individuals will receive automatic loan discharge without needing to take further action.
