Dr. Aaron Spence appointed new superintendent of Loudoun County Public Schools.

The Loudoun County School Board has appointed Dr. Aaron Spence, the current Superintendent of Virginia Beach City Public Schools, as its new superintendent. Dr. Spence is expected to take over after former LCPS Superintendent Scott Ziegler was fired by the Loudoun County School Board in December. The school board hired a superintendent search firm to find candidates and conducted surveys to learn what the community wanted in the next superintendent. The top qualities officials said they want the next superintendent to have are charisma, someone who values diversity and equity, great communicator, someone who is innovative, someone who is collaborative but can stand firm and is politically savvy.
