Florida School Board Reverses Ban on Children's Book Featuring Male Penguin Couple

The School Board of Lake County in Florida has reversed its decision to restrict access to the children's book "And Tango Makes Three," which tells the story of a male penguin couple hatching a chick. The reversal comes after a federal lawsuit was filed challenging the restrictions and Florida's "Don't Say Gay law," which prohibits classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in certain grade levels. The Florida Department of Education clarified that the law only applies to classroom instruction and not school libraries. The book has been subject to censorship efforts and is among the 100 most challenged books in the past decade, according to the American Library Association.
