Florida Teacher Under Investigation for Showing Disney Movie to Students

Florida education officials plan to interview students of a fifth-grade teacher who showed them the Disney movie "Strange World," which features a gay character, sparking an investigation over the state's law against teaching certain LGBTQ topics in schools. The teacher, Jenna Barbee, said she was unaware of the law's expansion to her grade level and that the movie was relevant to her lesson on ecosystems and the environment. Parents had previously signed permission slips for their children to watch PG-rated movies. The complaint is being reviewed by a Florida Department of Education investigator, and Barbee has already submitted her resignation from the school.
