HBO Films has acquired the rights to Mark Chiusano's book "The Fabulist: The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing, and Very American Legend of George Santos," which explores the rise and fall of George Santos, a former congressman who was recently expelled for alleged ethics violations. The film, being developed by Frank Rich, executive producer of "Veep" and "Succession," will delve into the darkly comic and forensic details of Santos' controversial congressional race on Long Island. Written by Mike Makowsky, the movie will follow Santos' Gatsby-esque journey as he exploited the system and swindled his way to power. Santos faces criminal charges and has pleaded not guilty.
