Remembering Jerry Springer: From Politician to TV Icon

Jerry Springer, the former mayor and news anchor who became a household name as the host of "The Jerry Springer Show," has died at the age of 79. The daytime talk show, known for its chair-throwing and bleep-filled arguments, was a ratings powerhouse and cultural phenomenon over its 27-year run. Springer, who called it "escapist entertainment," was also a liberal radio talk show host, "America's Got Talent" host, and "Dancing With the Stars" competitor. He died peacefully at home in suburban Chicago after a brief illness.
