Rosalynn Carter, Former First Lady, Diagnosed with Dementia

Former first lady Rosalynn Carter, 95, has been diagnosed with dementia, according to a statement from The Carter Center. The announcement was made to decrease stigma around the disease and encourage important conversations about mental health. Carter's husband, former President Jimmy Carter, has been receiving hospice care since February. The couple founded The Carter Center in 1982, which has become a noted international humanitarian force focused on public health and human rights.
