"Maui Fire Disaster Spurs Pop-up Units, Providing Families with Temporary Homes"

In response to the wildfires in Maui, a local organization called the Family Life Center is creating a pop-up village of modular container homes known as the Ohana Hope Village. The project aims to provide housing for around 250 people who were displaced by the fires. The modular units, which arrived via a military jet, are being quickly assembled and connected to utilities. The project has already received 145 applications, and the first phase of the plan includes 60 modules, with the possibility of more units arriving in the future.
