Florida Implements Stricter Driver's License Policy for Undocumented Immigrants

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a law that bans the acceptance of driver's licenses issued by certain U.S. states to immigrants living in the country illegally. The law, which took effect on July 1, deems licenses from Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Rhode Island, and Vermont as invalid. Those found driving in Florida with these licenses will face penalties. The law also prohibits undocumented immigrants from obtaining a Florida driver's license and blocks funding to organizations that issue identification documents to individuals without proof of lawful presence in the United States. Mexico's government criticized the law as racial profiling and a hate crime.
