Myles Cosgrove, the former Louisville Metro police officer who was fired for fatally shooting Breonna Taylor, has been hired as a deputy for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. Despite being fired by LMPD, Cosgrove's state peace officer certificate was not revoked, allowing him to apply to the sheriff’s office just an hour away from Louisville. Cosgrove was among the three officers who fired into Taylor’s home in 2020, and investigators believe the shot that killed Taylor came from his gun. The hiring has sparked controversy, and protests have been planned in Carroll County on Monday.
