Judge denies Trump's attempt to remove Jan. 6 allegations from indictment

Judge Tanya Chutkan rejected former President Donald Trump's motion to strike allegations that he helped lead the Jan. 6 attack from the indictment in his federal election interference case. Chutkan stated that the references to the violent attack on the Capitol would not prejudice a jury against Trump and vowed to ensure a fair trial. Separately, Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron denied Trump's request for a mistrial in a civil business fraud case against him. The indictment charges Trump with defrauding the United States, interfering with Congress, and depriving people of their right to vote.
