Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is deploying additional law enforcement to Miami Beach and other spring break destinations to maintain order and prevent mayhem during the upcoming spring break season. The measures include sending 60 Florida State troopers to South Florida and implementing strict enforcement of laws, such as increased parking rates, restricted entry to parking garages, and closure of sidewalk cafés. The decision comes after previous spring break seasons saw unruly crowds, lawless behavior, and violent acts, including two deadly shootings and 488 arrests in 2023.
