"Newsom's Bold Move: Doubling CHP Presence to Combat Fentanyl in Tenderloin"

California Governor Gavin Newsom is doubling the number of California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers deployed in a joint operation to crack down on open-air drug dealing in San Francisco. The expanded operation will include newly graduated CHP officers and active officers within the CHP's Golden Gate Division. Newsom has also authorized targeted law enforcement surges to boost public safety and combat fentanyl-related crimes. Since the operation began on May 1, the CHP has seized 8.1 kilos of fentanyl and made 115 arrests in the Tenderloin and surrounding area.
