"North Carolina Officer Suspended for Excessive Force in Woman's Arrest"

A police officer in North Carolina has been suspended for 40 hours after using excessive force during the arrest of a Black woman. New video footage released by authorities showed a broader view of the incident, revealing that the woman had struck an officer in the face before he responded by hitting her back and knocking her off her feet. The officer involved in the initial exchange of blows was not the one who received the suspension. The investigation determined that six other officers were justified in their actions. The suspended officer, Vincent Pistone, was seen repeatedly striking the woman while four other officers held her down. The police chief stated that all but the first three blows were excessive. Pistone will also receive additional training.
