Donald Trump's attorneys have requested a new trial in the defamation case brought by E Jean Carroll, arguing that the jury's compensatory and punitive awards of $83m are excessive and should be reduced. They claim that evidence was excluded from the case and the jury was erroneously instructed, and are seeking to reduce the damages to no more than $36.6m. This comes as Trump faces other legal challenges, including a separate $454m judgment for falsifying property values and an upcoming case related to a payment to Stormy Daniels.
