Minneapolis settles multiple cases involving Derek Chauvin for millions.

The City of Minneapolis has agreed to pay $8.875 million to settle a lawsuit filed by two people who accused former police officer Derek Chauvin and seven other officers of excessive force, racial discrimination, and misconduct. John Pope will receive $7.5 million, while Zoya Code will receive $1.375 million. The incidents date back to 2017, with Chauvin accused of using excessive force against Pope, who was 14 years old at the time, and Code, who suffered from PTSD and was diagnosed with major depressive disorder after being arrested. The settlement comes as Chauvin's trial for the murder of George Floyd is set to begin next week.
