Convicted Killer Freed on Technicality Due to Jail Transfer Violation

A man convicted of a 2015 killing in New York has been freed and had his indictment dismissed due to being held at the wrong prison, violating an interstate law on detainees. The judge ruled that the prisoner's transfer back to federal prison after the state murder indictment breached the federal Interstate Agreement on Detainer’s Law. The sheriff apologized to the victim's family and friends and vowed to prevent such violations in the future.
