'Rust' Armorer Denied Dismissal of Charges; Judge Urges Lawyers to Persist

The request to dismiss charges against Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was charged with involuntary manslaughter and evidence tampering in relation to the on-set shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, has been denied by a Santa Fe judge. Defense attorneys argued that recent statements made by prosecutors to the media could prejudice potential jurors, but the judge ruled that there was no substantial prejudice shown. The judge instructed both sides to "stay the course" on the charges. Gutierrez-Reed's next hearing is scheduled for August 9.
