Acton Pond Tragedy: Grandmother and 1-Year-Old Die in Unmarked Water Area

A bystander-initiated water rescue at NARA Pond in Acton, Massachusetts, left a 75-year-old grandmother and her 1-year-old grandchild dead after they entered an area not designated for swimming and encountered slippery, rocky conditions. Lifeguards and camp staff responded, and both victims were flown to Boston hospitals where they were pronounced dead; two other children observed distress at the scene.
