The Timber Fire near Big Sur has grown to 4,545 acres and is just 7% contained, with 503 structures threatened; there have been no injuries or losses reported. About 1,842 personnel are on scene as Highway 1 remains closed and multiple Monterey County evacuation zones remain active. Crews are reinforcing containment along the southern edge and toward the Coast Ridge Trail, while cooler coastal conditions are expected in coming days, though areas east of the fire remain warmer and drier.
