Embers from Hillsboro landfill ignite 25-acre brush blaze, forcing evacuations

A Hillsboro landfill fire spread to a nearby 40-acre dry grass field, burning about 25 acres of brush and prompting the temporary evacuation of two homes. Gusty winds pushed embers to spread the fire; crews from TVF&R and several other agencies fought it with bulldozers, brush rigs, and water tenders, achieving containment by evening with mop-up underway.
