Northern Nevada Wildfires Prompt Evacuations as State Declares Emergency

Three wildfires north of Reno—Bug Fire, Fred Mountain Fire, and Stallion Fire—are human-caused and have burned thousands of acres, triggering widespread evacuations (about 10,000 residents evacuated, with thousands able to return). The Washoe County School District canceled the first day of the 2026-27 school year for eight campuses, and Gov.
