Plano murder suspect dies after interstate chase and car fire in Denton County

A suspect wanted in a Plano homicide died after leading police on a south-to-north chase along I-35 into northern Denton County. After a trooper attempted a stop, the driver fired, crashed on I-35, and a standoff ensued as the vehicle burned; the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. Plano’s homicide investigation continues, with the victim’s identity withheld pending family notification. Northbound I-35 lanes were briefly backed up but have since reopened.
