Smoke over LA as Boyle Heights storage fire triggers shelter-in-place

A fire at a single-story Lineage cold food storage facility in Boyle Heights produced a large smoke plume over downtown Los Angeles, prompting a shelter-in-place order for nearby residents due to hazardous materials. Firefighters fought the blaze defensively from ladders and inside the building; no injuries were reported. The roof is covered with solar panels, and a similar solar-related fire occurred at the same building in August 2024; the cause is under investigation.
