Times Square stabbings end with police shooting of suspect who had long mental-health history

A 49-year-old woman, Pamela Cisneros, with a documented mental-health history dating back more than 20 years, fatally stabbed two strangers in Times Square before NYPD officers shot and killed her after she refused to drop two knives; one victim, Erin Piacenti, a Bank of America vice president, died, and a 68-year-old man was hospitalized; Cisneros had postpartum depression and bipolar disorder, had recently seemed to be doing better, held a master’s in psychology, and had three daughters.
