Search efforts halted for missing kayakers off Maui and Lake Jocassee

The US Coast Guard has suspended the active search for a 63-year-old kayaker who went missing off Tavares Beach on Maui since Thursday morning. Despite conducting 37 searches over 76 search hours and covering 1,147 square nautical miles, the kayaker remains missing. The Coast Guard, along with the Maui Fire Department and Maui Police Department, deployed various resources including boats, helicopters, and jet-skis to assist in the search. However, pending any further new information, the active search has been suspended.
