Las Tusas Fire Continues to Burn and Prompt Evacuations in San Miguel County #nmfire

The Las Tusas fire in San Miguel County, which started on private land near HWY 94, has burned over 1,000 estimated acres and caused the loss of structures. A full suppression strategy is being implemented by state, local, and federal resources, including 2 Hotshot crews, 1 Type 2 IA Handcrew, 4 dozers, 6 engines, and multiple volunteer engines. Evacuations are in place for Highway 94 residents from Canoncito to the intersection of Highway 266 and 94, and a Type-3 incident management team has been ordered. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
