"Maine Declares State of Emergency as Over 200,000 Remain Without Power, Restoration Efforts Continue"

Over 200,000 customers in Maine are still without power two days after a deadly storm hit the state, with some being told they may not have power until after Christmas. Central Maine Power has restored power to about 29% of affected homes and is working around the clock to restore power to all customers. Two people have died as a result of the storm, and significant flooding and infrastructure damage have been reported. Maine Governor Janet Mills has declared a civil state of emergency for most of the state, and some rivers in the region have reached flood stage.
