Abortion Ban Struggles Continue Despite Recent Failures.

Nebraska Senator Merv Riepe has refused to change his non-vote that killed the state's attempt at a 6-week abortion ban. Despite pressure from the public, Governor Pillen, and other political organizations, Riepe says his decision will stand. He had previously co-sponsored the bill but submitted an amendment that changed it to a 12-week ban. Riepe, a hospital administrator, says he talked to many doctors before making his amendment and still considers himself pro-life and a compassionate conservative. The bill is now dead for the remainder of this session.
