Appeals Court to Review Steve Bannon's Contempt of Congress Conviction

Attorneys for Steve Bannon and federal prosecutors will appear in court to argue whether Bannon's conviction for criminal contempt of Congress should be overturned. Bannon was found guilty in July 2022 for defying a subpoena from the House select committee investigating the Jan 6 Capitol attack. The judge sentenced Bannon to 4 months in prison but suspended the sentence pending appeal. Bannon had refused to testify, citing executive privilege concerns raised by former President Trump, but prosecutors argued it was irrelevant to his defense.
