Biden Administration Implements Measures to Control Migrant Influx.

The US will establish migrant processing centers in Colombia and Guatemala to reduce arrivals at the southern border after the end of the pandemic-era policy, Title 42, next month. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas said the administration is in talks with other Latin American countries to establish more processing centers. The centers will screen several thousand migrants each month for eligibility under the US Refugee Admissions Program and other humanitarian and labor pathways. The Department of Homeland Security will significantly expand the use of expedited removal to process migrants’ claims for relief and deport those who don’t qualify within days or a few weeks.
