Brandon Johnson, Chicago's newly elected mayor, won the election with the help of young progressive officials, musicians, and influencers. Johnson's campaign focused on engaging young voters, who turned out in higher numbers than in the previous election, while some older voters stayed home. Johnson's largest funder was the Chicago Teachers Union, and he received heavy backing from local progressive officials and organizers. Johnson's campaign knocked on more than 50,000 doors on Election Day, and he was joined by some of the City Council's youngest, most progressive members.
