"Christie Eyes 2024 Run to Take Down Trump in GOP Race"

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie told a New Hampshire audience that he is the only potential 2024 presidential candidate who can stand up to former President Donald Trump. Christie referred to his debate exchange with Marco Rubio in 2016 and said that other hopefuls lack the backbone to call Trump out. Christie also criticized Trump's recent speeches and accused him of leading Republicans down a "sinkhole of anger and retribution." Christie served on Trump's transition team until he was replaced by Mike Pence and has been a critic of the former president since the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
