Clark Mayor Charged with Corruption and Fraud; Police Chief Under Fire

Clark Mayor Salvatore Bonaccorso has been charged with corruption for allegedly using township property and employees to run his landscaping business and filing forged permit applications. He also faces official misconduct charges for running a tank removal business out of the mayor's office. Attorney General Matt Platkin has recommended the firing of Police Chief Pedro Matos and Sgt. Josep Teston due to misconduct, including the use of racist, sexist, and anti-Semitic statements. The attorney general's office found that Bonaccorso, Matos, and Teston had used such slurs when discussing hiring practices and police actions. Criminal charges are not being pursued, but a scathing report will be referred to the state's Division of Civil Rights.
