Disney World district under DeSantis control scraps diversity and equity efforts

Diversity, equity, and inclusion programs have been abolished in Walt Disney World's governing district, now controlled by appointees of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District eliminated its diversity committee and any job duties connected to it, as well as initiatives aimed at achieving racial or gender parity. The district's new administrator, Glenton Gilzean, called such initiatives "illegal and simply un-American." This move aligns with DeSantis' agenda of curtailing diversity programs in higher education and elsewhere. Disney World has not yet commented on the decision.
