Conservative group American Unity Fund (AUF), known for advocating for LGBT rights, is increasing its lobbying efforts by hiring Gracey Roskam to work on issues related to LGBT equality, religious freedoms, and election transparency. AUF spent $940,000 on lobbying in 2022, compared to $410,000 the previous year. The group's main lobbying firm, Allegiance Strategies, focuses on advancing freedom for gay and transgender Americans, supporting religious freedom, and supporting freedom of speech. A survey shows that fewer nonprofits are actively advocating for policy issues or lobbying due to financial constraints and fear of taking public stances in the current political environment. The Milwaukee Brewers spent the most on lobbying in Wisconsin in the first half of the year, seeking state funds for stadium renovations.
