Florida Governor to Sign Controversial 6-Week Abortion Ban

Florida lawmakers are set to pass a bill that would ban abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, which is practically a total ban as many people do not even know they are pregnant at six weeks. The proposed ban would also ban abortion by telemedicine and require any medication abortion to be dispensed in person, effectively outlawing mail orders of the pills. The bill includes exceptions for rape and incest, but requires anyone claiming those exceptions to provide a copy of a police report, medical record, or court order. The proposed legislation would not only decimate what’s left of abortion access for residents in Florida but also significantly curtail care for women across the South.
