GOP Eyes 2026 Midterm Convention Headlined by Trump
TL;DR
At the RNC winter meeting in Santa Barbara, the committee moved forward with holding a midterm convention in 2026, changing party rules to allow a non-presidential-year gathering and signaling Trump’s central role in the GOP's strategy. The White House will determine the date and possibly a Las Vegas venue, aiming to nationalize the midterms around Trump and energize voters, though Democrats have floated a similar idea with no final decision yet and GOP officials acknowledge potential risks to centering the race on a single figure.
