House Ethics Panel Continues Investigation of Rep. George Santos Amidst Controversy.

The House Ethics Committee will continue its investigation into Rep. George Santos for any ethics issues that fall under its jurisdiction, despite the New York Republican facing a federal indictment. The committee has a history of stepping aside when the Department of Justice picks up a probe into a member of Congress, but Rep. David Joyce, R-Ohio, who is leading the Santos investigation, argued that the panel is following its own precedent. Santos was arrested and charged in federal court last week on 13 counts including wire fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds and making materially false statements to the House.
