Inside the Illinois Budget Deal: Gov. Pritzker Announces Agreement.

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and legislative leaders announced a roughly $50 billion budget deal that includes $400 million for a "deal-closing fund" to lure electric vehicle makers and a battery plant to the state. The budget also includes $300 million for early-childhood education and an additional $350 million for aid to public grade and high schools. Democrats agreed to give the governor seven management "tools" to slash health spending for immigrants, reducing the final budget figure for that item to $550 million. The deal is expected to pass quickly and allow everyone to get home in time for Memorial Day weekend barbecues.
