Majority of Americans believe Trump's indictment is politically motivated: Poll

A plurality of Americans believe that former President Donald Trump should have been indicted on charges related to his handling of classified documents, according to an ABC News/Ipsos poll. However, nearly an equal number say the charges are politically motivated. Democrats overwhelmingly believe Trump should have been charged, while Republicans remain loyal to him. A majority of Americans find the charges either very or somewhat serious, while a plurality say Trump should suspend his bid for the White House. Trump's favorability rating has improved since his first indictment, and he holds a comfortable lead in the race for the 2024 Republican nomination.
